Intro & New Features
The new Tacks AS-VI stick family has come back redesigned with even longer-lasting pop, greater blade durability, more balance, and lighter weight than its predecessors. Being a part of the esteemed Tacks mid kick point family, the sticks in this series are designed to empower players’ shots and ability to maintain control over the ice. The AS-VI variation features an Advanced Carbon Matrix, Skeleton+ technology, and an Acufeel soft blade with Peel-Ply.
Stick Profile
The stick profile of the Tacks family is a modern mid kick point, optimized specifically for hard wrist shots. The flex point is situated slightly higher up on the shaft, around the midpoint. The increased loading period during the shooting motion and increased flex in the upper portion of the stick generate power on shots for greater velocity. This kick point profile is favored by players who want hard, strong shots and greater strength in board battles.
Shaft Construction
Featuring an advanced carbon matrix, this stick leverages cutting-edge performance carbon layering technology in tandem with Sigmatex spread tow, resulting in a stick that is not only lighter but also more durable. The shaft uses a square “T” geometry, which is a traditional shape for a solid and consistent feel in the player’s hands.
Just as previous CCM sticks have been using for the past few years, The AS-VI uses Skeleton+ taper technology, which helps provide better reliability in that area with more strategic material usage and greater reinforcement.
Blade Construction
The AS-VI continues to use an Acufeel soft blade with Peel-Ply. The Acufeel blade to the next generation applies Sigma STP into the construction for increased durability. For greater puck feel and shot power, the blade is a bit softer than that in other sticks but still has the right amount of stiffness for good control and accuracy.
Graphics
The stick keeps the familiar Tacks look in black with gold accents. The centre of the shaft also includes CCM’s modern Tacks text logo, as well as the new AS-V logo.
Grip
The new Superfast Microfeel grip integrates a raised grip directly onto the mid-section of the shaft for a feel that combines good hand movement with strong grip.
Blade Patterns, Flex & Stick Length
The Tacks AS-VI Senior hockey stick is available in P28, P29, P88, and P90TM blade patterns.
P29 is the best blade pattern for all-around play, with a mid-curve style. It is great at handling the puck in small spaces, including face-offs. This curve may suffer a little bit on the backhand.
P88 is a relatively traditional curve. A popular choice in the past, it excels greatly in stickhandling, quick wrist shots, and controlling snap shots.
P28 is a much more aggressive stick pattern, used often by elite players. This blade curve specializes in quick and accurate shots, but it can be a bit difficult to get used to since it is also very good at raising the puck.
P90TM is a hybrid of the P29 and P28, with the lie of the P29 and the toe of the P28. Additionally, the curve is a bit taller for more control and power on faceoffs and board battles. The “M” stands for “max blade,” which means the blade also has a bit more height for a stronger presence when engaging in board battles.
