New for 2022 from CCM are the Tacks AS 580 gloves. These gloves were designed with the high-level player in mind and include features also found in the higher-end AS-V gloves. In the AS 580’s arsenal, you’ll find D3O foam, a competitive-level Anatomical Shield Design, a Pro FlexThumb, and a FlexMotion open cuff.
External Material
The Anatomical Shield Design is a major asset that the AS 580 gloves bring to the table. The glove overall is modeled to form around your hand with some additional space for greater comfort and mobility. The variety of materials used on the exterior helps maximize coverage, flexibility, durability, and comfort. To construct the outer surface of the gloves, CCM chose polyester and Nash material.
Finger Design & Protection
The Tacks AS 580 gloves are equipped with premium dual-density foam and PE inserts in the fingers. The fingertips are reinforced with smooth, durable Nash material for extra protection. With this finger construction, you can perform at your full potential from the moment you step onto the ice, as they are made to be comfortable and flexible right out of the box. To further enhance the glove’s movement capabilities, the index finger has been built with a three-piece design.
Backhand Protection
The backhand uses a Vent-Tech base for primary coverage and excellent ventilation around your hand while you play. Over the backhand is an integrated impact protection plate designed to absorb and disperse impact when blocking shots or battling in the boards. In addition, the glove also features D3O foam in the knuckles for more security in that area. D3O is an amazing material when it comes to absorbing force on impact, as seen in much of CCM’s other protective gear.
Thumb Design
The thumb of the AS 580 is covered with PE injected thumb protection. Its design is built for stability and support, ensuring you can keep a good grip on your stick.
Cuff Design
The cuff is sectioned into multiple parts: a FlexMotion Segmented open cuff on the outside and a Sublimated Liner inside cuff on the inside portion. The FlexMotion cuff is a five-piece, open anatomical cuff that has been shortened for a greater range of motion while stickhandling without sacrificing protection. The Sublimated Liner inside cuff functions as part of the liner and has a soft cushioning texture. Its antimicrobial properties will keep you feeling dry and fresh all game long.
Palm Material & Gussets
CCM opted for a Nash palm with Nash reinforcement for comfort and added durability. Nash is traditionally used in hockey glove palms due to its water resistance and comfortability. Palms have a tendency to rip when not reinforced and after much use, which is why CCM made sure to include an extra layer right where the glove comes in contact with the stick to reduce friction and counteract that wear and tear.
Liner
The inside of the glove is lined with PU cushion foam and a sublimated laminated liner for a smooth and soft, game-ready feel. The laminated liner is water-resistant and durable, ensuring it lasts longer.
