The Vaughn Velocity V10 Pro Carbon Senior Chest & Arm Protector is meticulously designed for maximum protection and flexibility, employing Carbon Composite and HD foams across major impact zones for lightweight yet robust defense. The chest's coverage is expanded with high-density ridged foams and Carbon inserts, and the side rib cage is extended and articulated for optimal fit and flexibility. The chest pad's vertical adjustment system and higher neck line enhance customization and protection. It features a spacious back pad with HD foam over the spine, large-style shoulder floaters, and cap for increased impact resistance.
The design incorporates Kevlar® ballistic protection in the chest pad, prioritizing light weight, comfort, and adjustability. The arm floaters extend coverage area with deeper side profiles, reduced friction nylon coverings, and additional protective padding. The elbow caps combine molded Plastizote® foam and HD foam.
Sizing a chest protector is important to ensure the goaltenders range of motion is uninhibited, while still offering complete coverage from impact. There are steps necessary to finding the right fit in your chest protector, and the first is to know your measurements. Here at The Hockey Shop, we like to use two measurements: torso length and arm span. Once you have these two measurements, match your measurements to our sizing charts.
Sizing your Chest Protector
After receiving your chest protector, you are going to want to check if the size fits the following criteria:
1. The arms end just before your wrist. This is important because you want to ensure that the wrist portion of the arms do not interfere with your blocker and catcher—this still provides adequate growing room for the blocker and trapper, which usually last you 1 to 2 years. Depending on the model, adjustable arms may be an offered feature, which is an added bonus for goaltenders that are still growing.
2. Your elbows fit securely in to the pocket of the elbow protection, and do not shift too far away from them. Keep in mind, arms usually have to be adjusted while putting on your chest & arm. Use the adjustable arm features where given to give you an optimal fit.
3. Make sure the shoulders of the chest & arm are sitting comfortably atop, and wrapped around your shoulders. This can be seen visually by looking at the collar of the chest & arm. You want the collar to sit slightly above your clavicle, but not too high that it interferes with the bottom of your goalie mask.
Each brand of chest & arms will have not only a different shape, but also a slightly different fit. We highly recommend having one of our Goalie Specialists to assist you in optimizing the fit of your Chest Protector. If you can't make it into the store, give us a call so we can walk you through it.
