Goalie leg pads: common questions

How do I measure for goalie pads?

Measure from the centre of your ankle bone to the middle of your kneecap (ATK), then match it to the chart in our goalie size chart.

What does +1 or +2 mean on goalie pads?

It's thigh rise: extra height added to the top of the pad, in inches. A 33+1 pad is a 33-inch pad with 1 inch more on top. +1 is the most common.

Should I buy pads a size up for a growing goalie?

No. Pads that are too big slow a goalie down. Pick the size where the knee lands in the lower half of the knee stack. That leaves room to grow.

Can I try pads on in store?

Yes. Bring your goalie skates and pants, since they change where the pad sits.
